While it is particularly difficult to quantify who exactly leads a “conversational friendship,” there are a considerable number of folks who give their time and talents to keeping the conversation going.

Cohorts

Among these folks are Emergent Village Cohorts, a growing number of grassroots conversation organizers and participants. Much of the life of the Village goes on in these cohorts, and although the lives of individual cohorts ebb and flow, they are crucial to the life of the Village.

Village Council and Coordinating Committees

The Emergent Village Council was formed in May of 2009 as a “council of practitioners” tasked with coordination of the efforts of the multiple working groups that make up Emergent Village as well as serving as the Board of Directors for the 501( c )( 3 ). You can find out more about them here.

The Village Council oversees several coordinating committees: EV Arts, EV Cohorts, EV Communications and EV Events are among the most active of these committees. Membership on these committees varies, but the leads on the committees to date are

Yes, you. Emergent Village continues to grow, change and thrive because you bring your ideas and energy to the conversation. Everyone in “leadership” in EV started through participation, and you can, too. Find a cohort, join our listserv, go to a conference. Your voice is important. We need you.
